Our STC-rated windows can withstand hurricane force winds up to 200 mph! They are also manufactured in South Carolina (where they have experience with hurricanes).
So what window features contribute to being hurricane resistant?
The Frame: The frame construction of our Acoustical Windows are top-of-the-line. Since sound takes the path of least resistance, our window frames have to be 100% sealed and secure, allowing for no tiny gaps for sound (or wind) to pass through. Additionally, this makes them Energy Star Rated.
The Glass: Both the thickness and the feature of using laminated glass make the difference in strength and impact-resistance.
The Hardware: Every detail down to the locking mechanisms, latches, and operative pieces are extremely specific in order to be able to manage the unique challenges that soundproofing requires. These same specifications are what make these windows safe as well.
The Installation: Lastly, none of the above features mean anything without proper installation. Although we do sell the windows themselves, independent of installation, our installers know how to inspect, secure, and place the windows in a home or business to meet maximum efficiency.
With plenty of experience under their belts in many different situations, you can be confident that your windows will provide the features you are investing in.
